Jean Michel was born and raised in Rockford, IL, USA, and graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Comparative World Literature and Film Directing in 2012. That same academic year he played Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire in his first stage role. He moved to New York City and began producing and directing original plays as well as with The Acting Studio company. His first feature film, Vedic Nights, is being released in 2020, and a VHS short film of George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four is currently in post-production.

Subject matter in his work includes: the city as it’s own mental landscape; Vedic philosophy; the etheric realm influencing artists; how a person’s native language forms their reality; Brazilian Candomblé; storytelling in music; the sky-clock; and overlooked/forgotton history.
